How Do You Repair An Outside Leaky Faucet?
A leaky outside faucet is an annoying problem that can become worse with use or with seasonal changes. This problem creates mud puddles around the yard, causes an increase on the water bill and creates messes inside the home. Before taking the faucet apart, determine if the leak is coming from around the top that sits behind the faucet handle by tighten with your hand. Check the spout next to see if it leaks by turning the handle to the closed position. If the source of your leak is the faucet spout, chances are you have a failed washer. Turn off the main water supply valve to the home that is usually located in a basement, utility room or outside near the street. Relieve built up pressure from the outside faucet by turning the faucet handle to the full on position. Remove the screw from the faucet handle with a screwdriver and wiggle the handle until it comes off. Remove the faucet nut sitting behind the faucet handle with a wrench.
