Rusted car and truck frames need to be repaired before the damage makes the auto unsafe to drive. A weak frame can increase the likelihood of driver injury during an accident. In some cases it can effect the steering and handling. Follow these steps to repair a rusted auto frame. Step 1 Use a hose and water to clean the complete under side of your vehicle. Wash away as much dirt and grime as possible. This will help expose any hidden problem areas as well as make the job more pleasant. Step 2 Raise the auto and place it on jack stands. Use more than one stand. For safety reasons never work under a vehicle that is raised by only a tire jack. Step 3 Remove any parts that will be in the way. These could include the tires, suspension parts, brackets and exhaust. Any extra room will help later on. Step 4 Use a side grinder to remove the section of the frame that is rusted.
