How Do You Repair A PVC Line?
Both indoor and outdoor plumbing systems employ PVC pipe. As with any plumbing pipes, you may need to repiar a PVC line because of cracking or hairline fractures in the pipe that can lead to leakage. You can make these repairs at a very low cost without having to hire an expensive plumber to do the job. Turn off your water main and cut a small hole in the broken or damaged pipe. Place the bucket underneath the hole and allow all of the water to drain from the pipe. Cut the damaged PVC pipe 6 inches on each side of the crack and remove the pipe section. This will ensure that you remove any hairline cracks from the damaged section. Cut a new piece of PVC to fit the gap in the piping. Make sure it will fit tightly and securely in place. Apply the silicon sealant to both ends of the new PVC pipe piece and set it into place. Place the coupling joint over each of the sealant sections of the PVC pipe.
