How Do You Repair A Pool Table Slate?

0

Over the years, a well-used pool table will see its fair share of wear and tear. Occasionally, the slate may get dinged or cracked, requiring a repair job. While a professional can provide you with a like-new slate, it can be an expensive process. Instead, for smaller cracks, you can repair your pool table’s slate yourself. Remove the table railings. Unscrew the bolts holding the rail in place with the socket wrench. Remove the staples holding the felt on the pool table and remove the felt. Examine the slate for any dings, cracks or holes. Fill holes. Melt billiard table wax into the indent so that it’s fully filled, with overflow above the surface of the slate. Mend cracks. Apply glue to the crack and push the edges of the slate back together. Scrape off excess wax or glue with the paint scraper once all repair substances have dried. Restaple the felt or re-felt the table (see Resources). Replace the railings.
