How Do You Repair A Moen Shower Faucet Single-Handle Unit?
Moen single-handle shower faucets are long lasting and simple to repair. The cartridge may become difficult to pull up and push down because of hard-water mineral deposits or loss of lubrication. To repair your Moen single-handle shower faucet, you will take it apart to expose the cartridge, replace the cartridge, and reassemble the faucet. Pry off the decorative cap on the handle to expose the handle retaining screw. Loosen this screw and lift off the handle. If the screw is stripped out and cannot be removed, drill out the screw or break off the handle and buy a replacement. Remove the screws in the escutcheon plate (the round metal plate that rests behind the handle) and pull off the plate. You will see a stainless cartridge collar with an indent that points up. Pull this collar by hand. Find the U-clip that holds the cartridge in place. With needle-nose pliers, pull the U-clip straight up and out. Using pliers, pull out the cartridge.
