How Do You Repair A Heavy Duty Extension Cord Plug?
Extension cords do not last forever. They get exposed to harsh elements while supplying electric to your holiday lighting. As a result of this damaging lifestyle, your extension cord may begin to show signs of wear. In order to keep it working, you may have to step in and replace the plug. Here are the steps to doing it. Step 1 Make sure the cord is NOT plugged in. Then, use the wire strippers to cut the bad plug off. If you look at the exposed end of the cord, you should see three groups of copper wires. Step 2 Use the knife to make a small slice down the side of the cord jacket (the rubber outside sheathing). Make a slice about 1/2 inch in length. Step 3 Pull the sliced edges away from each other with your fingers to further expose the wires within. Peel the jacket down so that the wires are exposed about 1 inch.
