How Do You Repair A Gas Tank Leak?

0

Occasionally, the metal gas tank in a vehicle can develop leaks from rocks and other materials hitting the tank and puncturing it or from corrosion as well as moisture building up between the tank and the mounting straps. The gasoline can eventually eat away at the metal gas tank, causing leaks as well. You can repair the leaks in the gas tank in about four to six hours and save yourself the time and expense of having someone else do the repairs for you. Remove the gas from the vehicle’s fuel tank until it is completely empty by detaching the fuel line from underneath the vehicle near the tank with an open end wrench and needle nose pliers, draining the fuel into a plastic gas can. Detach the three-wire electrical connector from the fuel pump located on the driver’s side, behind the rear bumper, by pulling the connector straight out by hand. Unhook the straps holding the gas tank to the vehicle with a socket wrench to unfasten the nuts. Stabilize the gas tank by using jacks to hold it
