A fiberglass or composite canoe is an expensive investment. In addition to being lighter than its plastic counterparts, a fiberglass boat is also more fragile. Fortunately, it is also easier to repair. Step 1 Sand down the area around the rupture until it is as smooth as possible. Tears in fiberglass or composite hulls are often rough and jagged.
