How Do You Repair A Deck Post?

0

Extreme weather conditions can take a toll on wood decks, especially if they have not been properly sealed. But even the best decks can start to age and show signs of damage. If the posts that support the deck start to show signs of dry rot or other damage, it is best to replace the post. If the post is allowed to rot, it could compromise the safety and integrity of the deck. The good news is, replacing the post is simple with the right tools. Place a concrete block a few inches away from the damaged post and right below the deck beam. Put a hydraulic jack on top of the concrete block. Then add a 1 ½-inch piece of plywood scrap to the top of the jack. Pump the jack until the plywood hits the beam. Slightly lift the beam with the jack. Use a drill or screwdriver to remove any screws that are holding the damaged post in place. Then remove the post and the wood anchor pad that is located on top of the concrete pier. Use a hammer drill to drill a hole through the center of the concrete pie
