How Do You Repair A Broken Scuba Mask Buckle?

• Gather together a paper clip (the big type), an empty ballpoint pen tube (the small ink tube inside) and some basic tools. • Cut the pen tube to the width of the buckle. • Put the paper clip through the small holes the broken pin was in, with the pen tube in the middle and bend the “tail” that’s sticking out at a 90° angle. • Pull the paper clip back through the tube until it can’t go anymore because of bent end. Cut the long end, leaving just a little excess for the next step… • Bend the other side. • Put the strap through. Don’t forget to put it twice through the plastic clip for the loose end (the black thing near the thumb on the photo). This avoids the strap slipping loose if you move it all the way to the mask buckle. Test it and you’re done. You have recovered a mask and recycled an empty pen.
