Yahoo Messenger is a free program that lets you chat with people via instant messaging and also lets you send and receive files instantly. When you install Yahoo Messenger, it is automatically set up to load upon system start-up. By removing Yahoo Messenger from the list of programs that load upon start-up, you can free up system resources and reduce the time it takes for your computer to start up. Click “Start.” If you are running Windows XP, click “Run” and type in “msconfig” (without quotes). In Windows Vista, type in “msconfig” in the “Start” search box. This will open the “System Configuration” utility. Click on the “Startup” tab in the “System Configuration” utility. It will show a list of all the programs that load upon start-up. Search for the term “Yahoo! Pager” in the “Startup Item” list and remove the check mark from the box next to it. Click “OK” and click on “Restart” in the following prompt. The next time your computer starts, Yahoo Messenger will not load up automaticall
