Dab the rag onto the wine stain, switching to clean parts of the rag as one part becomes soiled. Follow up by blotting with a rag dampened in cool water. Continue blotting until no more wine transfers to the rag. Pour 1 qt. of water into a pot. Place the pot on the stove and bring the water to a boil.
