Candles add a warm ambiance to a room. They can also do damage to table linens when wax overflows and spills across a surface. Cleaning up the mess that wax can leave behind calls for a quick response. Scraping wax away from the linen can ruin the fabric. Gently pulling away loose wax can remove much of the problem but what has penetrated the fabric needs to be melted away. Dye used in some candle waxes can require the use of other removal techniques. Turn the iron on and place the heat setting to an appropriate choice for the table linen fabric. Place a brown paper bag or several layers of paper towels on to the ironing board. Lay the portion of the table linen containing the wax on top of the paper bag or towels. Cover the wax with the same product—paper bag or paper towels—that was placed below the linen.
