How Do You Remove Water-Based Paint From Clothing?
When you spill or splash paint onto your clothes, it may feel like the end of the world. Fortunately, you can remove water-based paint with ease if you attend to the stain immediately. Look at the ingredients on the paint to see if the paint is water-based. Water-based paints wash out of clothing easier than oil-based paints, and they generally will not leave evident stains. Water-based paints include but are not limited to watercolors, latex and acrylic paints. Remove any dried paint with a butter knife. Carefully scrape away as much paint as possible. If the paint remains wet, then wash it off with warm water. Sit the clothing under warm water. Use your fingers to rub the area to remove as much paint as possible. Blot the paint stain with rubbing alcohol and an old washcloth. Use a toothbrush to rub the alcohol into the stain. Allow the alcohol to set for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse the alcohol off.
