How Do You Remove Tomato Stains From Microwaved Plastic?
You have tons of plastic microwave containers for storing leftover food and sauces. You love the convenience of the containers, but you don’t love cleaning them. Tomato-based sauces and dishes do a real number on microwave plastic containers. Regular household cleaners don’t work and throwing the containers away is out of the question. You can remove the tomato stains with chlorine bleach and sunlight. Fill the plastic microwave container with 1/2 tsp. chlorine bleach. Wear latex gloves to keep the bleach off of your hands. Fill the remainder of the plastic container with warm water. Stir the bleach/water mixture with a spoon. Place a lid on to the plastic microwave container or cover it with three sheets of plastic wrap. Place the plastic container in direct sunlight for at least six hours or until the sun sets.
