How Do You Remove Tint Glue From Glass?
Tint glue is an adhesive commonly used to install window tinting in automobiles. Removing the tint film may leave a sticky residue of glue that can be removed with a little preparation and common household cleaners, including ammonia. Wait for a hot day to complete this project; the sun will do some of the work and make the job easier. Open all the doors in the car for ventilation or use electric fans if removing tint glue from window glass in a home or business. Cut open a black plastic garbage back big enough to cover the glass with the tint glue. Spray the glass thoroughly with ammonia. Cover the glass with the plastic garbage bag and hold it in place with strips of masking tape. Leave the glass in direct sunlight for at least an hour. The heat will produce humidity in the airspace between the glass and the black plastic bag to loosen and dissolve the tint glue. Remove the black plastic bag and masking tape.
