How Do You Remove The Shortcut Arrow In Windows XP?
There is a small arrow overlaying every shortcut icon in Windows XP. The arrow was created to differentiate between a shortcut and the actual file from which it originates. Though the arrow appears on every desktop icon, it can be hidden or removed as long as you are feel comfortable editing the registry. Go to the Start menu and click run. A command prompt box will open. Type in “regedit” (without quotes); this will open the Registry Editor. Navigate to the directory “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile.” Delete the “IsShortcut” registry value in the right-hand pane. Alternately, you can just rename the registry entry, like “IsNotAShortcut.” Navigate to the following registry values and delete or rename them as well: CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ConferenceLink HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DocShortCut_HKEY HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSHFile Exit from the registry. Restart Windows.
