How Do You Remove The Neck From A Frozen Turkey?
Cooking a turkey is a rather easy process, but the turkey must be properly prepared before cooking to ensure the best taste and quality. Frozen turkeys come stuffed with the neck and giblets, usually in a bag that needs to be removed. These parts can be cooked separately, used to make gravy or simply thrown out. Step 1 Place the turkey in a deep pan to collect the fluids that will drain out of it as it thaws. Step 2 Set the turkey out at room temperature for four to six hours and then place it in the refrigerator for 24 to 36 hours to complete the thawing process. Step 3 Remove all of the packaging. Step 4 Pull open the body cavity and reach inside to locate the bag containing the neck and giblets. Step 5 Remove the bag. Step 6 Check the cavity to make sure that it’s completely clear. If any plastic remains inside, it will cook and give the turkey an unpleasant taste.
