If you are a property owner and the unfortunate situation of having a lien on your property exists, the only way to really remove that is to payoff the inherent debt that brought the lien to be placed on your property. And essentially the way you would do that is contact the lien holder and come up with a settlement that will make him want to remove the lien. Many times if you are going to talk to the lien holder it’s better to have an intermediary present. That is to say an attorney representing your interest. And that also helps too because the attorney can negotiate a lower settlement then the actual lien that’s on the house. The lien is of no use to the person that put it there unless they can get payment and so many times they are willing to take less in payment just to get this matter taken care of.
