How Do You Remove The Hubs From A 1985 Ford 4-Wheel Drive?

0

The front hubs located on the front axle on a 1985 Ford four-wheel drive vehicle are used to engage to front drive wheels when the vehicle is put into four-wheel drive mode. These hubs physically engage the axle and connect it to the drive hubs. Over time, the internal components in the hub can break down. Eventually, you’re no longer to engage four-wheel drive on the front axle. Before you can fix the problem, you first have to remove the front hubs. Remove the six bolts going around the perimeter of the wheel hub in the center of the wheel, and then pull off the cap from the hub. Locate the snap ring in the middle of the hub. Remove it using the snap-ring pliers, then remove the locking ring with the pliers as well. Slide the hub body assembly out of the axle using your hands. Connect a hub puller to the body assembly if necessary to pull out the hub.
