How Do You Remove The Cigarette Smell From Books?
Finding used books at a thrift store, rummage sale or the library can result in a delightful treasure. Unfortunately, your find may contain odors that make it distasteful to use. Whether your book contains cigarette odors or smells musty from disuse, removing such smells makes the book more pleasant to read. There’s a natural method for neutralizing those offensive odors and restoring a clean smell to your book. Spread a 1/8-inch thick layer of baking soda over the bottom of a plastic bin. Place a baking rack into the bin over the baking soda. Open a book and place it on the baking rack with the pages facing up. Add another odorous book to the rack if space permits, positioning the books in a single layer. Weight the pages with something heavy enough to prevent the book from closing, yet not so heavy that you damage the book’s spine. Insert a pencil vertically between the pages of the open book, lay a ruler horizontally across the pages or place small pebbles or marbles down the center
