Vermeil is a combination of sterling silver and gold that is used to plate or cover a silver object. Due to its silver content and contact with human skin or chemicals in the air, vermeil will eventually tarnish and discolor in the same way sterling silver does. Fortunately, cleaning the tarnish from a vermeil object is a simple project that can be completed in the space of half an hour, and requires the use of only household cleaning products.
