How Do You Remove Tar From Ceramic Tile?

0

My son works as a Roofer, and he occasionally, even though shoes are to be removed at the door, gets tar on the ceramic tile in the entrance way. He has told me that gasoline will get it off…. well, I don’t really have access to gasoline other than what’s in my car’s gas tank, and seeming I live in a Townhouse and I don’t need a lawnmower, I just didn’t have any gasoline laying around. Anyway, I came across this after many attempts to remove the tar with different things such as nail polish remover and alcohol to no avail. First I scraped some of the tar off with a sharp knife..you can do this carefully with a razor blade too. Be very careful not to scratch your tile.(or cut your hand) You’re just trying to thin out the tar that needs to be removed. Next, put some Paint Thinner on a cloth and rub the tar area until the tar is gone. Took a little rubbing, but the tar is gone. Lastly, I just went over the area with what I normally use to wash the floor. Good as new.
