Regardless of how the tape residue got on the vinyl, you can remove it with a few simple instructions. Squirt a little lighter fluid onto a soft cloth. Rub the cloth over the tape residue. Dip another cloth in water. Wipe off the lighter fluid with the damp cloth. Pick any last loose pieces of tape residue from the vinyl with your fingers. It should come off easily.
