How Do You Remove Tail Lights From A Volkswagen Cabrio?
The tail lights on a Volkswagen Cabrio may need to be replaced if the bulbs are blown. You may also need to replace the tail light assembly if it is scuffed or damaged. While there is no service life for the housing, the bulbs should be checked every six months. In most states, driving without brake lights is illegal and could earn you a ticket. Fortunately, removing the tail lights is not difficult. Open the trunk and pull up the carpet in the trunk. Remove the screw bolts that hold the trim piece to the back of both of the tail light housings. Remove the trim backings to expose the tail lights. Remove the electrical plug running to the bulb’s ballast. Squeeze the top of the connector’s release tab and remove the plug. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it from the housing. Remove the screw bolts on the inside of the trunk that hold the tail light housing to the body. Pull the tail light housing off.
