The registry is a large and vital database containing almost all of the settings for Windows and any additional applications that have been installed. The Registry Editor enables you to view and edit all of the registry entries available and contains five root directories: “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT,” “HKEY_CURRENT_USER,” “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,” “HKEY_USERS” and “HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG.” The startup programs in registry editor are contained within “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,” which stores information about hardware, software and preferences.
