How Do You Remove Smoke Stains & Odors?
Smoke stains and odors are caused by cigarettes and household fires. Once smoke stains or smoke odors develop, they can be difficult to remove. These stains are so tough because smoke contains soot, which is made up of small carbon molecules. To remove the stain and odor, you must first remove the stain and then apply a treatment to remove the odor. Pour 2 cups of cold water into a bowl and then add 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap. Mix the solution with a spoon to dissolve the soap into the water. Insert a white cloth into the bowl and then squeeze the cloth to remove excess water. Dab the solution onto the smoke stain until it is thoroughly saturated. Blot the stain with a dry, white towel until the stain is removed. Using a white towel allows you to see if the stain is coming out. Repeat the process of applying the soap solution and blotting until the stain disappears.
