Rubbing compound will eat away a layer of the paint, so it’s important to work on one part of the motorcycle at a time, and to wipe away all traces of rubbing compound before continuing. If you don’t do this, the substance will continue to eat away at your bike’s paint job. Prepare a solution of dish soap and water in a bowl. Wash your motorcycle with this solution to remove any traces of dirt. If you apply rubbing compound to a dirty or dusty bike, you’ll end up scratching your paint.
