Glass lenses are delicate and can be easily scratched. These scratches mar vision beyond the lens, and can sometimes obstruct vision completely. Prevention is the best method to keep glasses clear, but accidents can occur. Luckily, there are several ways to quickly and inexpensively remove scratches from glass lenses. These methods include using toothpaste, baking soda, windshield fluid and vehicle wax. Apply a small amount of toothpaste on a soft, cotton cloth. Rub the toothpaste onto the lens using small, circular motions. Continue wiping for about 10 seconds and rinse with cold water. For deep scratches, the method may need to be repeated. Mix two parts baking soda with one part water to form a thick paste. Use the cotton cloth to apply the paste to the lens, rubbing in a circular motion. Rinse afterward and dry with a separate cloth.
