How Do You Remove Scratches From Float Glass?
Most modern windows are made from float glass. This glass is made by pouring molten glass onto a bed of molten metal to create a sheet of uniform thickness. Like any other type of glass, float glass is susceptible to developing scratches. It is relatively easy to remove shallow scratches from float glass with nothing more than a little fingernail polish; however, if the scratch is deep enough to stick your fingernail into, it is probably too deep to remove completely without the help of a professional. Paint a thin coat of clear fingernail polish over the scratch(es). Leave the fingernail polish to dry for 20 minutes. Use a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with fingernail polish remover to buff excess fingernail polish away. Repeat steps 1 through 3 until the scratch disappears.
