How do you remove scratches & dents from pine furniture? ?
If your furniture is unvarnished wood such as pine or oak; dents should come out if you leave an ice cube on the dent till it melts. The theory being that the water will soak into the wood and swell it back to its original shape. As for the scratches; sand paper and elbow grease are the best way to remove these. Be careful if you do opt to use the teabag technique to remove marks as it could stain your wood to a different colour and make any marks more obvious than they already were. Finally, if the dents are too big for these methods to work you could try using plastic wood – you can buy this ready made from DIY stores or make your own by mixing a little sawdust with wood glue to a sticky paste, fill the dents generously, wait for them to dry and then sand over them until they are smooth and level with the furniture ( for this to really work well you need to use a plastic wood that will give you the same colour as the original piece of furniture). Good luck with the repair!
