As a doll collector, I frequently have a problem with rust stains that have formed on my doll clothing. I have had much success removing rust stains on doll garments and restoring the clothing to a like new condition. Here is how I am able to do remove these stains. The clothing must first of all be washable because these methods involve using water. If a print looks like the colors may bleed if it is wet, test a small area. When in doubt, always test the fabric first. Wash the garment in Woolite or other cold water soap. Use cold water so not to shrink the fabric. Allow the fabric to soak for about 20 minutes. While the fabric is wet, spray the spot with your rust remover. I use Lime Away but I am sure there are other products that work well. I have never had a problem with Lime Away damaging a fabric that is washable. Let the product work on the stain for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse the fabric in cold water and assess the rust spot.
