How Do You Remove Rust From Sheet Metal?

0

To properly work with a piece of metal, you first have to be sure it’s free of all contaminants. Otherwise, your welds will have trouble penetrating, and if left unchecked, the part can continue to rust until it’s corroded all the way. Some measures will help prevent the problem, but if you do have a little rust on your sheet metal, you can get rid of it easily. Apply the red scuff pad over the rusted area. This will remove most of the surface rust, and can get rid of a lot of the damage. Insert the wire brush into the end of the drill and tighten the chuck. Turn on the drill and use the wire brush to grind off the rust. The wire brush does a good job of taking off rust and won’t damage the sheet metal below it. Wipe off the sheet metal using the shop rags. Repeat steps 3 and 4 if any rust remains.
