How Do You Remove Rust From Clothesline Post Or Lamp Post?
We all know fixing things is sometimes cheaper than replacing things! Although labor intensive, it requires more time than money and to some people that is a lot better in the long run. This article will give you a quick run down on how to remove rust from a Clothesline T-post, or Lamp Post. Clothesline posts can be several hundred dollars to replace, but removing the rust, cleaning it up and painting it is a quick cheap project that takes a few hours! First you are going to use the wire brush to remove any excess paint chipping off, removing dirt, grime and rust. This may take awhile depending on how much rust you have. Using a steel wool pad can really help, or a rotary tool and #500 aluminum oxide grinding wheel or #530 stainless steel brush to remove hard to reach rust. You will need to immediately apply a rust inhibitor to the entire post and let it dry. Use an oil based or metal paint to coat the whole entire post, one coat is fine but two coats would give it a better finish.
