How Do You Remove Rust From A Gun Metal Putter?
A gun metal putter is a golf club. Most golf clubs are made of metal like titanium, but some putters are made of gun metal. Because golf clubs are used outdoors in all kinds of weather and because they are subjected to the physical challenges of golf, the clubs get damaged. The damage removes the club’s protective coating so rust forms. If you don’t maintain your putter and keep it dry, you may have to remove rust. Clean the putter. Fill a small bucket with warm, soapy water and put the head of the putter into the bucket. Wait several minutes. Be certain only the head of the putter is in the water. Remove the putter from the bucket. Use a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush, to clean the putter head. Dry the putter with a clean cloth. Scrub the rust stains on the gunmetal putter with very fine steel wool. Be gentle when scrubbing off the rust so as not to damage the putter. Be careful to only use the steel wool on the rust stains. This method removes surface rust.
