Remove the grout or mortar around the damaged tile. Be very careful to avoid damaging any adjacent tiles while you work on the one that you are trying to remove. Utilize the hammer with a chisel or an awl to begin removing chunks of the grout. You can also use a dull utility blade to wear down the layers of grout between the tiles. Remove the old tile. This can be done by chipping out smaller pieces, especially if you were unsuccessfully in removing most of the grout holding the tile in place. Again, the hammer and chisel will help to remove the old tile, either by penetrating the space between the tile and the floor and prying it out, or by chippin
