Blot up as much of the wine as possible. Use a thick layer of paper towels to carefully dab at the stain. Switch to a fresh stack of paper towels as one becomes filled with wine. Avoid rubbing or the wine may spread. Continue blotting until no more wine transfers from the furniture to the paper towels. Fill an empty spray bottle with cool water. Thoroughly rinse out the bottle in case any traces of a cleaning product or other residue could still be in the bottle. Mist the wine stain lightly with the cool water.
