If you have a pet, you know that occasionally there will be accidents. Pet urine has a strong odor and can make a whole room smell if it isn’t cleaned up properly. Hardwood and tile flooring are the easiest places to clean pet urine, mainly because unlike carpet or furniture, there are no fibers to absorb the odor. Dry the urine as soon as you notice it, using a paper towel. Remember this just removes the puddle—it doesn’t do anything for the odor that may remain. Apply a capful or more of straight vinegar to the area where the urine was located. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Vinegar will neutralize the chemicals in the urine that cause the odor. Soak the microfiber towel with warm water and wring it out well. Sprinkle about a teaspoon of baking soda on the towel. The dampness of the towel will help the baking soda cling to the cloth.
