Panasonic manufactures a line of turntables under the Technics label, which has been one of the best-selling record players in the world for nearly 40 years. Some Technics models use a drive belt that will eventually stretch and wear out, resulting in diminished sound quality. If the belt breaks, the turntable will no longer rotate. You can remove the drive belt from a Panasonic turntable in just a few minutes. Step 1 Unplug the turntable from the power supply. Step 2 Lift off the clear cover and lock the tonearm in place by turning the plastic lock over the tonearm until it clicks. Step 3 Lift the platter straight off the turntable, taking care not to turn it at an angle that could bend the record spindle. Set aside the platter. Step 4 Locate the drive belt, which is a black rubber loop around the spindle and connected to the motor shaft. Step 5 Gently pull the belt to slip it off the motor shaft, then up and off the record spindle.
