How Do You Remove Paint From A Deck?
Stripping down the old paint from a deck takes work, but a pressure washer can ease the task. The washers are gas or electric machines that hook up to your hose and super-pressurize the water, sending it out in concentrated streams capable of removing paint off wood. Set up your pressure washer by following its included instructions. Attach it to your hose. Affix the 15-degree nozzle. Starting at the top of the railing or other highest point on the deck, hold the nozzle about 18 inches from the wood and turn it on. Use a “chiseling” motion to remove the paint, pushing the stream forward on the wood for about a foot, then easing it back a little, then pushing it forward another foot. Adjust the distance of the nozzle tip from the wood as needed to remove the paint but not gouge the wood. Work from the top of the deck downward, going with the grain of the wood at all times. Remove the paint from the planks of the deck one at a time. Allow the deck to dry in the sun for several days befor
