How Do You Remove Oven Cleaner Smell?

Although it’s excellent for removing built-up grease and grime in your oven, oven cleaner can also leave a harsh and unpleasant odor in your kitchen. Citrus peels have oils in them that, when activated with heat, will release a natural aroma that will mask the oven cleaner’s chemical scent. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with oven-safe parchment paper. Cut and peel the oranges using a steak knife, separating the fruit from the peels. Lay the peels out on the baking sheet (it doesn’t matter which way they are facing, or how they are arranged on the baking sheet). Place the fruit portion of the oranges into a plastic sandwich bag and save for another use. Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake for at least 10 minutes or until the smell of the oven cleaner disappears. Discard the peels and parchment paper by tossing them into the trash can or compost bin.
