How Do You Remove Oil Based Paint From Clothing?
How to remove oil based paints from clothing is one of the first things my college painting instructor told us. Most of the time, when you get oil based paints in your clothing, it’s there forever, but if you catch it soon enough, the following tricks may work like a charm! Apply oil based liquid dish soap to the paint. Let it sit for a few minutes and then scrub it with your fingernail or toothbrush. Rinse the piece of clothing and examine the results. Repeat if necessary. If that doesn’t work, try using hand sanitizer and scrubbing as you did with the liquid dish soap. If that doesn’t do it for you, then try rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover and scrub with a toothbrush. You can also try mixing together a solution of hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol. Massage the mixture into the paint spot and then begin scraping the paint spot off with your fingernail or a butter knife.
