Mylar is a thin plastic layer that is used as an adhesive for wall coverings such as wallpaper. Mylar is also used on glass as a tint and can be removed with a one part ammonia and two parts water solution. This dissolves the Mylar and wipes it away. The ammonia method is not practical for removing Mylar on walls; other, more time-consuming methods are required.
