How Do You Remove Mushroom Coral From Rock?
Mushroom corals are one of the most popular live corals available to reef aquarists. This is due in part to their ease of growth and care, as well as cost, as mushroom corals are quite inexpensive compared to other specimens. They can, however, get out of hand quickly and sometimes need to be removed. This can be accomplished fairly easily with only a few items. Spread the newspaper on a table to create an easily cleanable work space. Take out the rock that you desire to remove the coral from and place on the newspaper. Cut the coral at the base with the scissors. Remove as much of the coral base that remains connected to the rock using the razor blade. Pour the synthetic salt over the last remaining bit of coral residue and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will dissolve any remaining coral tissue that is on the rock. Wash the salt off of the rock with fresh saltwater and immediately put the rock back into the aquarium.
