How Do You Remove Mold From Decks?
Mold is actually a fungus that grows in dark and damp places. If your deck is shaded or in a spot where sunlight won’t reach it, it will begin to grow mold. Mold can cause several health problems, including allergies and asthma attacks. It is important to remove the mold from the deck as soon as you notice it beginning to grow. Prepare yourself for removing the mold by putting on your gloves, protective eye glasses and dust mask. Don’t breathe in any of the mold as you are getting rid of it to avoid causing health problems. Set up or borrow a pressure washer with at least 1500 psi. If it is any less, it will not be strong enough to get rid of the mold. Place a medium nozzle on the pressure washer, and hold it 2 inches from the deck’s surface. Move the nozzle in a slow, sweeping motion from left to right. Start at the front of the deck, and work your way to the back. Take your time, and cover the entire surface area of the deck. The mold will then be gone.
