Single handled Moen water faucets are a beautiful addition to your bathroom. The faucet works with a cartridge inside that mixes the hot and cold water. Over time the cartridge will need to be replaced. Once you know how to remove a Moen bathtub faucet cartridge, your bathtub faucet will operate like new. Turn off the water supply to the bathtub. There should be an access panel in another room to access the tub plumbing. If there is no access then you may have to go in the crawl space to shut the water off. Locate the set screw cover located under the faucet handle toward the tub. Remove the cover by popping it off with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the set screw that holds the handle to the faucet stem by using an Allen wrench. Pull the faucet handle straight out. Remove the bonnet nut that holds the cartridge in place with an adjustable wrench. Grasp the end of the cartridge with a pair of pliers and pull the cartridge straight out of the cavity.
