Sometimes, while lying in bed, you start to smell something that just isn’t right. You determine that it is a musty or mildew smell. Place it on two sawhorses or something similar to get it up off the ground, exposing both sides of the mattress to the air and the top side to sunlight. Step 2 Liberally spray both sides of your entire mattress with one-half bleach, one-half water mixture. This will probably discolor the fabric, but is the best method to remove mildew.
