How Do You Remove Mildew From Paint?
Mildew can thrive in almost any warm wet area including painted surfaces. Unfortunately it is nowhere near as visually pleasing. So remove the mildew from those painted surfaces and return them to their former beauty. First avoid the temptation to just paint over the mildew. It will grow through the new paint in a short period of time. You need to completely remove the mildew. Take a gallon of warm water and mix in a third cup of laundry detergent and a half cup of chlorox bleach. Make sure the water is warm or the detergent will not completely dissolve. Using a dish cleaning sponge systematically scrub the mildew from the paint. Next take a hose or watering can and rinse off the paint. Wait for the water to dry before applying any new paint or undercoats. Now that you have removed the mildew from the paint you can repaint the surface. Since this area has shown itself to be prone to mildew you may want to consider mildew resistant or latex paint.
