When removing masking tape from wood, you will need to be extremely careful. Finished wood can be scratched easily and large scrapes may occur. This is especially true when the tape has been on the wood for quite some time and pressed firmly into the material. You can remove the masking tape without damaging the wood with household tools. Fill the bowl with steaming hot water. You will want the water as hot as you can stand touching it but without scalding your skin. Dip the corner of the washcloth into the water. Hold the tip of the washcloth on the corner of the masking tape. Try to keep most of the water off the table and just place it on the masking tape. It needs to be on the corner so the end comes up a little bit. Hold the washcloth on the tape for approximately five minutes. You may need to dip the cloth back into the water to re-warm it.
