Treating the marker stain promptly will provide the greatest success in removal. Be mindful that there is a wide variation in the surface types and finishes of wood so it is important to test the method you are using on a small, inconspicuous area prior to applying it to a larger area of the wood. Toothpaste Method Step 1 Dab a small amount of plain, white toothpaste onto the marker stain. Only use enough toothpaste to completely cover the marker stain in a thin layer.
